The Early History of the Jo Nang Tradition and the Scholarly Environment of Gha Rung Pa Lhavi Rgyal Mtshan In this paper,I will discuss the background of Gha rung pa Lhavi rgyal mtshan (1319-1403),the author of the Chos dbyings gsal sgron (Lamp to Illuminate the Expanse of Reality).To date,Gha rung pa,a student of the famous Dol po pa Shes rab rgyal mtshan (1292-1361),has been little studied outside of Tibet,and his name has rarely come up even in Tibetan scholarship.In order to have a clear understanding and a fuller picture of his writtings,we must explore the life of the author himself as well as the scholarly environment in which he lived and was educated.
The Role of Dreams in Guru Chos dbang＇s Autobiography： Notes on Dreams in Two Volumes of Guru Chos dbang1 ＇s Writings According to the relevant historical documents,Guru Chos dbang is a controversial figure.He is considered one of the five prominent gTer-ston (treasure discoverers) in several chronicles of Nyingma tradition,however,Bu ston Rin chen grub claims in his comments on mantra practice in Tibet that Guru Chos dbang offered perverted teachings and fabricated false treasures.This is a topic of extreme interesting to many researchers,and there are several of works of English scholarship including Janet Gyatso's work on Guru Chos dbang's autobiography analyzing its narrative methods.There is still more remaining to figure out.

People and Environmental Interrelationship in Tibetan Culture Mountain and Water Deities on the Tibetan Plateau In Tibetan Buddhism,all aspects of this earth's physical environment are alive,for example,mountains,rivers,the grass,birds,fish and insects are all considered living organisms deserving of respect.Although these are not human life,according to the Dharma,all lives are equal.To take life is considered the action resulting in the worst karma.Similarly,if someone does good things,they will have a good karma resulting in a good rebirth.While it is permissible to kill a domestic animal for family consumption,hunting of wild animals for any reason is not acceptable.A person who does this will go to hell in his or her next life or be reborn as an animal.
